Tuesday, January 28th, 2020 – YUM: A Taste of the Culinary World

Farm to School Manitoba’s Program Coordinator was delighted to speak with grade 9 students at this year’s career exploration day at Nelson McIntyre Collegiate.

The session was divided into 2 portions:

  • A discussion on the vegetarian diet with questions and answers. Students put what they learned into action and had a great time coming up with sample vegetarian and vegan meal/snack ideas that they shared with the entire group.
  • The second portion of the session included students rolling up their sleeves and heading into the kitchen to make one of two recipes. Keeping in line with the vegetarian theme, students incorporated plant-based proteins into their dishes to make tomato bean soup and lentil banana-raisin muffins.
